Inky despair

Today I found a new job to apply for, but I am having major, major demoralization about it. On the face of it, it's borderline perfect (no clothing/textiles) - research/cataloguing focused, archaeology, few qualifications especially in the museum experience line, in an institution where I have a contact. But I am having soul-crushing "what's the point in trying"ness because so many other jobs I've applied for have been borderline perfect and seemed quite appropriate for me and yet I don't even get called for an interview. (Exceptionally frustrating as most of the "how to get a job in museums" advice focuses on the interview, as though getting to that stage is fairly simple.)

I mean, I am going to apply, but when I think about it there is a black pit of nothingness in my heart.
