Apr. 11th, 2014 02:39 pmGave my presentation on Victorian dress at lunch today! As usual I was very anxious beforehand, but a group of older ladies who are all very comfortable with each other makes for a great audience. Loads of questions and laughter, and I think I managed to get a different view of corsets and hoops over, leaning heavily on reenactors and their lived experiences. And they were very impressed with my own corset.
Today's patterns: 1934 wedding dress with too many bias seams, 1860s child's dress, the top part of a 1916 wedding dress with too many layers.
Got home and there was my package from Joanns! It turns out that the buckram there is not the right stuff for bonnets and hats but I'm doubling it and that seems to do the trick, I hope. By tomorrow lunch I hope to have the frame all put together.
