Mar. 8th, 2015 07:36 pmOver my initial EVERYTHING IS RUINED FOREVER reaction, but the bobbin winder on my sewing machine got snapped off during the move. Apparently Link knocked it over and onto the ground and nobody decided to tell me until I brought it up! The plastic casing also got broken, but not badly. I'm going to get a portable bobbin winder if I can't find the piece in the driveway under the snow (which would have been easier if anyone had told me YESTERDAY), and since I need drapery hooks and want to make my curtains instead of buying them, I'm going to Ogdensburg where there's a Joann tomorrow.
I got a lot done today! Mom and Ron brought up the furniture and I started finally settling in; before they got here I went to Big Lots again for lots of housewares. Garbage pails and bags, sponges, pans, etc. It's starting to look pretty good! But I need powdered cleanser, an ironing board, and a vacuum still.
Familiarized myself with the local co-op. I'm probably going to keep getting milk and eggs at Stewarts and making my own yoghurt, but they have a surprising selection of supermarket-priced fresh produce, big bags of oatmeal, and the usual spices/teas/powders that all the co-ops and health food stores, even the chains, have.
Because I'm going to make myself a Sewing Person, there is going to be sewing or sewing-related activity every day from now on. Tonight I finished the brim lining in the 1860s bonnet everyone has forgotten I started. I need to find the rest of the silk so I can do the curtain ...
