This is one reason I use Chrome for Dreamwidth and Firefox for LJ.

I hate writing (and re-writing) introductions :P.

I don't even need to rewrite that much! I just have to cut out a chunk (done) and write a summary of women's dress ~1770 - ~1820 and define all my major dress terms. This should be really easy, but I am so fucking sick of summarizing the changes in fashion during that period because I do it several times in the paper (broken down into "here's how sleeves changed", "here's how waistlines changed," etc.) and I've done it a dozen times on my blog and just. No more. I can take no more of this.

I put on a movie because sometimes watching tv while I do academic-type writing makes me focus a bit more, like I just look up for a second at the screen rather than restoring the Firefox window and checking my email or whatever, but it's not really working. :/

When I'm writing papers, I have to listen to music or I get distracted, so I understand the TV thing. Honestly, I usually stare at my crappy three-sentence introduction for a while once the paper is done, try to edit it about twelve times, then give up and plan to get up early to fix it in the morning. Then I get up only half an hour early instead of an hour and finish the thing in a blind panic. No professor ever seems to have noticed.

Unfortunately, my advisor has looked at the thesis and sent me a long list of things to fix, and this is one of them. And I think she's right, I just haaaaate it. Normally that's how I do introductions as well! Originally mine was just c/p'd from my proposal.
