The thing about Saratoga is that a lot of places are aimed at students (Skidmore is the town college) and track-goers - they'll post ads for apartments open to a September-May lodger for reasonable rates, and add that it's also open in the summer for much more (but they really want a different lodger for the summer). Right now, when I look, they're just listing ones that are priced much higher than they're worth. It's just an expensive/difficult place to live year-round - I should probably look in Ballston Spa or Gansevoort, where the people who work with me live, but that still ties into the real problem with moving to the area: I don't want to sign a lease there. I'm still applying for jobs in Albany, and as much as I don't want to drive from there to Saratoga every day, at least that'd be the opposite of the rush hour traffic. If I had to stay in Saratoga for X months (until the lease ran out) while working in Albany ... I don't get stressed from driving quite as much as some people I know, but that would do it. It's horrendous.
