I feel much better and less hateable this morning, so that is good. Today I am going to try to apply to something and to write to April from SPARC about my own book and where I should look for publication. And I'm going to work on my query letter, so that when she answers me I can send it out.
I'm torn between feeling vindicated at proof - okay, not really proof, but the suggestion - that her book was moviefied not solely based on its own merits (just as her father's status as one of "the 50 Most Influential Management Gurus" indicates to me that his reputation helped get her published in the first place, and his strategies helped her achieve some measure of publishing success), and feeling more annoyed that people don't generally put this together and she gets away with implying that everyone who questions the legitimacy of her success is a bully and/or anti-Semitic.
While Clare (nee Judith Rumelt) isn't credited on the film beyond the obligatory "based on the novel by" reference, she's hardly new to Hollywood. Her maternal grandfather, Max Rosenberg, was a veteran film producer whose credits include The Curse of Frankenstein and Tales From the Crypt, while Clare got her professional start in the 1990s working in The Hollywood Reporter's special issues department as an editorial assistant. - source
