I feel much better and less hateable this morning, so that is good. Today I am going to try to apply to something and to write to April from SPARC about my own book and where I should look for publication. And I'm going to work on my query letter, so that when she answers me I can send it out.

While Clare (nee Judith Rumelt) isn't credited on the film beyond the obligatory "based on the novel by" reference, she's hardly new to Hollywood. I'm torn between feeling vindicated at proof - okay, not really proof, but the suggestion - that her book was moviefied not solely based on its own merits (just as her father's status as one of "the 50 Most Influential Management Gurus" indicates to me that his reputation helped get her published in the first place, and his strategies helped her achieve some measure of publishing success), and feeling more annoyed that people don't generally put this together and she gets away with implying that everyone who questions the legitimacy of her success is a bully and/or anti-Semitic.

I don't think it's grudgewank when the "grudge" is over the fact that the person in question is an atrocious excuse for a human being on an ongoing basis.

I didn't even realize how ongoing! I knew she was still hiding her past re: cyberbullying, but I just read this a few minutes ago. The text is grey on pink and small, so you might not want to look at it, but the short version is: she's been claiming that this one specific anti-CC blog is behind all anonymous hate against her, and has been claiming that this blog gave out information to help find her address (they posted her real name, given to them by someone in response to the fact that they thought CC was her real name), that they made anti-Semitic remarks (they were involved in a discussion between Jewish people about whether or not a Jewish joke in the text was offensive, regardless of and taking into account whether CC was Jewish), that she's okay with being called out for being sexist (when one of the big critiques they made was that her books had slut-shaming), that this all winds up back with girl-on-girl bullying which she hates (when another thing they pointed out was that female characters hate each other in the books out of jealousy and it's not considered bad by the text), and that they were deleted for all of this harassment (when the only reason given by Tumblr was copyright infringement, though they quoted only short passages and only for critique, thus being protected under fair use). It's just such a huge bag of lies and distortion and nastiness, ugh.
