chocolatepotBlindspot is redeeming itself as a) an early issue of potential racism or unreliable narrative resolved itself as unreliable narrative, and b) the Red Hen Club was introduced, giving a more nuanced look at the revolutionaries.
I have no evidence for this, but I'm going to assume that Lepore or Kamensky was in HP fandom and went with "Red Hen Club" as a shoutout.
I don't mind the inevitable Jameson/Fanny, but tbh with Fanny's issues with her father I would adore it if they went the Catherine Jinks route and had Jameson become Fanny's surrogate father figure. These days I actually get more feels out of that sort of thing than romances.
Well ... it feels like nobody wants to talk about this.
I do not like the way Fellowes handled it. Joanne Froggatt is a good actor, and she did a really good job selling it. And the shooting of the attack itself was good, with the switching back and forth to the calm concert, that was well done. But I can't stop thinking that the only reason it happened in the first place is that he realized (as we all did) that Anna and Bates had gotten boring. So instead of just accepting that the dramatic part of their story was over and relegating them to the back row, he had to try to drum up more drama. And I don't think "I've done everything else (minus a pregnancy, why am I not trying that?) so I guess I should try rape" is a great reason. Then there's the amount of time it took to get back to Anna. Then there's the fact that Anna seriously not trusting Bates not to immediately murder whatshisname creeps me out, because that's a trope I find creepy. Then there's the question of what will happen in future episodes, and my guess is that it will be treated as Anna's Dark Secret that Bates Needs To Uncover ...
I'm glad Rose will be doing something in the next episode. Somehow Fellowes can't integrate her into a scene as well as he can other characters, I think.

Gregson surprised me - I thought he'd reveal something unsavory, but I don't think "has the ability to out-cheat a cheater" counts, so props to him. I've started to like him, oh no. Maybe he'll get shot in Germany or something, because we all know this isn't going to work out in the end, right?
