chocolatepotI was going to try to get my submission/query letter to Anova Books ready for tomorrow, but that's likely not happening.
- I like the idea that computer!River was supposed to be involved on Trenzalore that I saw on io9. It was definitely odd that she wasn't involved at all.
- I'm really, really getting attached to the idea that Moffat's problems are inherited from RTD and just a problem with the show itself. For all that people claim there are huge differences between their reigns ... stupid, semi-nonsenical finales have been going on for a long time. Since 2005 the show has been about emotional character moments and Rule of Cool rather than logic. Moffat does have a love for skipping around in characters' timelines from other perspectives, but other than the opening bit, Amy could be an RTD heroine. Moffat could easily have invented Donna. Moffat's plots and season arcs keep getting more complicated because from the first DW's been on a trajectory of topping itself, making more and more things from earlier episodes tie in - why is this treated as a new thing that suddenly happened with Eleven? And frankly, as much as people complain about this, I think that if we immediately went to small finales, people would complain that the sense of grandeur was being lost.
- Still torn over whether or not I liked Amy coming back. I mean, I did, it was very moving, I didn't even think about wigs until it was pointed out to me. It was preferable to a leaving tour by far. But it was also a bit weird and hallucinatory?
- I don't even care about trying to understand the plots anymore, just give me emotions and I'm cool.
- Why did the town still exist???
- I would really have rather the season ended with going to Gallifrey instead.
- But yay for them making the decision that You Get Thirteen and reminding everyone that Time Lords Can Give You More, I like antique canon. And decisions.
- Matt Smith loved getting to act old, you know it.
- I've seen some comparisons between Martha and Clara re: loooove feelings, but tbh I think Clara's plot is less bad because it wasn't so in-your-face.
- The nakedness thing was just weird. Kind of took up space that could have been used for plot explaining.
