I know it's really not the done thing to write stories based on dreams, because dreams are really only interesting to the dreamer and the logic isn't going to work and that's how we got Twilight, but I had the most fun dream right before I woke up. There was a bright young woman who hung around with an older, very absent-minded eccentric genius, and the plot of the dream involved her getting lost as they went to a shop somewhere, an older couple finding her and being all shocked that she was wandering around in the cold, and then he came back and hadn't realized she was missing or forgot she was with him and was sorry, but she was like "no big" and they left.

I wouldn't just write up the dream because there was a lot of bizarre dream weirdness going on in it (it was a weird mish-mash of past and present) and it does sound quite boring and stupid now that I type it out, but I think there's a seed of interestingness in it. I'd set it in the early 1920s so that past/present thing would actually be part of it, and she's the daughter of someone he used to know in school or something, and at first she lives with an aunt who gets all >:( because "people will talk about you visiting all the time!" but she goes "fudge" and moves in with him as his niece ...

It seems like it would lend itself well to a mystery story, but I feel like I'd be terrible at one of those. Well, I've got sewing and thesis writing to do today, so I'll probably intersperse working on all of them, and if I do write some of this I'll post it.
