While coming down for Bella's birthday party, I dropped Dad and Owen off to do some boundary lines on a property and then went to the big JoAnn store in Albany. I was just getting the 1911 fabric, but then I saw this fabulous dark turquoise poly taffeta, and I decided I was going to make my bridesmaid's dress after all. Even better, it turned out that they were doing a $1.99 pattern sale! I've never been there during one of those! So I brought home four patterns.

- 1803: Maybe for the wedding. I really love those kind of 60s shirtwaist dresses, but when I try on ready-made ones they never fit, because the waist is too low, but I think if I made one and worked out the kinks in a muslin it could work really, really well for me. I love the notched neckline.

- 1873: Similar to the previous, I wouldn't have bought both if there hadn't been a sale. It's pleated to the waist instead of gathered, though, which might be more flattering.

- 3673: Not for the wedding. So cute, though, isn't it? Very S1 Mad Men.

- 4014: I very desperately want to make a Chanel-esque suit out of Chanel-esque bouclé fabric. I do want to get a more Chanelly pattern at some point, but this one looks pretty good, too. I've never made a coat, so it should be an adventure. I'll get to use the stuff in Claire Shaeffer's book for once.
