Wrote this morning to the Schenectady science museum and to Clermont, which was the home of the Livingston family in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries so might have some good stuff. Unfortunately, it's down near Tivoli, about an hour away from Melissa's, which is an hour away from home. But in the scheme of things, it's not that far.

Raining, and chilly inside. I don't want to be the one who turns on the furnace, though, so I'll just go put a heavier sweater on.

Now that I've got this book project underway and the whole article-on-dress-vocabulary thing, Dad seems to be more on my side that working on them counts as, well, work. So that is awesome. Except that now I just want to sew. DDDD: I think it's because there's those two projects, plus the ppt for the talk I might do sometime at Ten Broeck, and whenever I get a lot of things I kind of need to do I always want to fall back on the things I don't need to do.

Got another application acknowledgement! Whoo, I'm practically employed!

This writing is SO. BORING. I'd forgotten that I'd learned that writing about how to put together a dress is super boring, and it turns out that it's even more boring when you have multiple similar dresses to write about. And it's really, really annoying when you realize you don't have every single little piece of information.

I shouldn't mind so much, because Janet Arnold never gave 100% explicit instructions and Norah Waugh gave next to nothing, but I keep comparing to Linda Baumgarten.

I made cookies and they just completely melted. Hopefully them being on the parchment paper rather than the pan will make them easier to take off, but ... yeah. It's not a very productive day (except that I guess I did write a whole page of construction details, so yeah).

I'm enjoying The Serpent's Kiss (if only for Richard E. Grant exclaiming "We shall be the fucking flowers!"), but I'm really really disappointed that a movie (one of the very few) set in 1699 can't show me even one mantua. :(
