I'm kind of confused as to why today's Tale from the Trenches got published, except that Scott Kurtz is kind of a dick and I can see him selecting it. I mean, it's not attacking me and I don't feel personally insulted, but people who go, "why are you complaining about that horrible thing, there is technically something worse out there, pay attention to me instead" are the worst.

I mean, the comic is all about how you get screwed over working QA for game developers. So they run stories about people who were screwed over by game developers. Actually, now that I think about it, it seems kind of like a troll - plenty of the published stories have involved people not getting paid for their time.

Just took the pattern of the back of a 1920s cotton combinations. Someone needs to stop me, I'm out of control. But I'm definitely doing an underwear book at some point. I wish I could remember what I'd decided on doing for bust support - I'm pretty sure I nixed a corselet because I just don't feel like making one, but what am I doing? Did I come across a brassiere pattern?

These combinations are nicely large, too, which is nice as it's demoralizing to always be widening historical patterns.

Dang, I've just responded to someone on Tumblr who I think is either some kind of troll or just a really, really grumpy Downton Abbey fan who it'd be better to ignore. I'm new to actually getting responses on Tumblr, I don't know what I'm doing.

I was looking at some 1830s chemises from the Met (1, 2, 3) and I think tomorrow my quick pattern might be one of the 1840s/50s ones here. That kind of yoke just seems like something that might be hard for me to draft, you know?

David Haig is playing Mr. Banks in Mary Poppins on AccuRadio's Broadway channel, but all I can think when I hear his voice is "RUDYARD KIPLING, YOU MADE HARRY POTTER DIE. ALSO, PORPHYRIA."

I patterned the 1840s chemise already. This is what I consider living dangerously.

Just downloaded a free CAD program to try it out. Um ... I'm kind of considering just honing my handwriting because fuck there is no way I'm going to become proficient in this. I need a program that shows you a grid with clear axes where I can just put in simple coordinates and have it draw the lines and curves I need.

I found enough cotton (possibly that cheapo muslin from Joann?) in my stash-box for the chemise I patterned today, and I got it out and drew out where I needed to cut ... and then remembered I'd left my compact sewing kit - the top layer of my snappable layer box, with the most important sewy things, including my scissors - at work because "I don't have anything to work on right now, there's no point in bothering to carry this back and forth." :|
