I've sewn both side-back seams on my 1811 bodice, and pinned the rest of it together to check it - I cut the CF way too long just to make sure it would fit, but apart from that it's just right. The neckline - despite all my alteration in the pattern - is still kind of wide: not for my body, but for the stays. Although I've found that I was pulling the stays too tight earlier and the straps don't need to cross so high up in the back, they're still peeping out the sides of the neckline. I'm just going to have to make a chemisette, I guess, and someday a corset with wider-set straps.

But it fits! I'm doing really well! Yay!

I just hope adding the sleeves doesn't screw everything up in some way.

No, I am going to use the 1910s Butterick reprinted pattern in black wool from the local shop ($4/yard) with white cuffs and collar. It will be more figure-flattering with the high waistline, and easier to make since I can use a machine. Plus I don't need as much fabric and can use the limited amount in the shop instead of ordering lots from online. I should get some dye so I can wear the Renoirs (not quite accurate but fairly close, and in black with a black dress the scallops won't be noticeable) - oh, and I need to get around to doing the buttons to fit.

Owen is in New York for the climate change rally, so jealous. My life is so boring. Today I bagged things really fast, that's what it is now.
