So the guy and I met up for dinner here in Canton and I pulled the plug. He could probably tell from the beginning as I deliberately dressed repulsively - frumpy stretched-out t-shirt, khaki cargo capris (yes I really own these) - and then I was tired and didn't push myself to be bright and responsive. Plus I paid for both our burritos. On the first date I actively wanted to be bowled over; this time I was on the downhill side and was just ... uninterested. Even at the time I was thinking that I was being a bit rude, but making myself seem more engaged (aka Charlotte Lucasing) is part of the problem, so I wanted to avoid it. At the end, when it came up, I confessed to not feeling the chemistry but was honest about enjoying being friends, so ... who knows what will happen. At some point I'm going to go over my OKC profile again and try to scrub out all but the most subtle of geek references to try to find someone with a compatible personality instead of compatible interests.

There are only four boxes marked "dresses" in the collection; two are also marked that they hold 1940s-1950s dresses or a 1940s wedding dress. So I took the other two down to the office to look through.

I had all this anticipation - the best anticipation is when you have a blue box in front of you and you know there's dresses in it but have no idea what they are - and the first box? Contains two graduation gowns, a 1940s nylon taffeta evening dress with a broken halter, and a 1960s beaded dress so heavily beaded it can't be hung. For real. The second is better: a 1915 wedding dress (gorgeous), a ca. 1900 dressing sacque/skirt from Filene's (pink silk and lace, beautiful), a 1918ish lingerie dress ... I'm surprised that there seems to be no box at all with beaded 1920s dresses. A museum with no beaded dresses, really? Very odd.
