epea_pteroenta that I was getting tired of River, but that scene where she shoots all the Silence and tells Rory not to tell the Doctor made me love her again. ♥

- I am probably the only person who loved Rory listening to Amy talking through her transmitter. The reasons for my love are twofold. 1) I like people angsting about love, as long as it's not an all-the-time thing. 2) I have a head-story, never written down, quite epic, and anyway in one iteration of it there is a scene where the heroine is captured and put in a cell and somehow gets a magic radio-type-thing and just talks in it for comfort, and her love interest finds the station on the radio and listens in. Clearly Moffat is listening to my brainwaves, and I shall be fashioning a stylish tinfoil cloche for myself ... or not, actually, as I would love more stuff that speaks directly to my Id.

- The hair and costuming was quite good, and while I always thought those horn-rimmed glasses were ugly I'm starting to like them because of Rory. /o\ I am a crazy Rory!wife now.

- It seems clear to me that the child is Amy and Rory's with a Time Head from gestating in the TARDIS. I don't think it's a red herring, or at least I hope not as I don't want the season to get overly complex.

- I like the way Eleven dealt with the Silence, I thought it was clever. Although I couldn't quite make out what the Silent was saying in the video, and each time it replayed it was even less garbled in my head, so I was slightly confused at the end.

- There was one bit where a Silent greeted Eleven and it was JUST LIKE IN WEB OF CAVES. I lol'd.

- Everyone has made all the points about why guns aren't bad anymore so I don't need to.

- I thought the Silence were good, creepy villains, but in the end I feel like they raised too many questions (unless Moffat means to go back to them later). Have they been there in every historical story? What were they actually doing to manipulate stuff? Because they seem to only be able to drive people insane. More practically and Fridge Logically, what happened to the bodies of the ones people killed under post-hypnotic suggestion?

I actually made substantial progress on my thesis project last night, I think. I need to make a pair of short stays, but the pair I'm modeling them on is across the ocean and impossible for me to view. So I took the Jill Salen pattern of a pair of brown stays from 1790 and drew it out on my graph paper. The main thing that needs messing with is the length, as the VAM stays don't make it to the waist, so when I drew out the pieces I made the bottom line where the top of the tabs started. Then I scanned in the pattern pieces, c&p'd them so I had both sides, and doubled them to being at 1/4 scale. (And then shrunk them a wee bit to fit on the printer paper.) After I printed them out I cut them out and taped them together into a tiny little adorable paper corset, just to get an idea of how the seams would lie to compare to the VAM ones. I think I will have to do a bit of shape-messing-with as well, as the result is still VERY conical, but that shouldn't be too hard. Since it's not cinching my waist or anything, I think I can check that with just a muslin mock-up, which I might do today. The only trouble I that I can't seem to find my washable marker - I hope I didn't leave it at home.

Took a Claritin. I'm just worse than yesterday, sneezing and itching all over the place.
