- I expected to like Cersei more when her PoV started, but, man, it's not happening. I think it starts with my general preference for characters who are thrown into power and have to deal with it, or who want power to fix . It's also annoying when she dismisses people who don't agree with her as stupid, or is wildly hypocritical about other women (they're whores for having sex or being raped, they're awful for concealing their true emotions). The fact that she seems to care for Tommen mainly as a means to be in charge of Westeros doesn't help. But I do appreciate that she has a PoV and it's possible that over the course of the book I could feel more sympathy for her. And that prophecy about being cast down by a younger queen is understandably unnerving (though it's a textbook example of self-fulfilling prophecy).
- I wish Margaery had a PoV, but I do like how she's going in the show.
- Bronn naming Lollys's kid Tyrion is great trolling. I hope Lollys gets some happiness, though, and can get away from people trivializing her trauma.
- There's no Tyrion in this book, is there. :(
- And not enough Sansa, but she's not doing very much in the Vale so I'm okay with that for now.
- Brienne's search is going to get old, I fear, the way she brings up the Vale and dismisses it. I'm not entirely sure what GRRM's intent is with this storyline.
- Poor Gilly. :( But switching her kid with Mance's does make me have more respect for Jon, and does a lot more to make him seem like he's becoming a tough leader than any amount of internal monologue could.
- I'm really intrigued as to what Arya's going to do. No predictions there.
