chocolatepot- I worked at the library book sale all weekend. There were sooooo many left over that I am rescuing a few and will be doing some nice giveaways, probably as lots of one to three - a knitting lot, a YA lot (DAMN IT I saved The Moorchild from recycling at the last book sale and nobody bought it this time either, you lost your chance, people of Greenwich), a Marie Antoinette lot, etc. It should be fun. I'm willing to pay media mail shipping for that.
- I just can't care about Makorra. :| I think some of it is that I have a weird tendency to nearly always find the sidekick more interesting, regardless of character types, so I'm like, enough of Mako, Bolin is hilarious, and also that Mako does not have nearly enough oomph for me to ship him with Korra. But also I tend to be turned off when the female character is into the guy before he's into her, so there's that, too. And I like Asami and don't want her to be sad. But then I saw this and that last reason went away and so now IDC what they do with Mako and Korra, I just want this. But in general I do seem to be cursed shipping-wise, it used to be that I always liked canon ships and then something happened and I ship non-canon or not obviously-going-to-be-canon about half the time.
- I'm reading this Edwardian (poss. late Victorian, it's missing the copyright page) school story, and it's surprisingly good. One of the main characters is Irish (the Wild Kitty of the title) and I'm impressed that the author refrained from writing her accent phonetically. It also kicks in that "humans are always the same" reaction in bits like the one girl telling another that her hairstyle is an "excrescence", because who expects Edwardian teens to tell each other their hair looks like shit? Once I'm done I'm going to do a blog post on all the fashion bits.
