I mean, really. So far, it doesn't feel like it's redoing the first season with a slight change (which happens a lot with sequels) or changing it up completely to be ~new~. Here, it's grown organically out of the first season, a natural continuation of the plot.

I have to quote [personal profile] meddow because she's perfectly right: Okay, so the reason why I love Regina is because 25% of the time you feel bad for her, 25% of the time you want to smack her making bad decisions and feel she deserves all her misery, 25% of the time she's utterly terrifying and the last 25% of the time she's hilarious. In general, I've always been kind of on the fence about her because the times when I feel sorry for her have been so overshadowed by the horrible things she does, and because so much of what she does has been based on "I'm punishing the entire world because a ten-year-old was manipulated into telling my secret so I must ruin her life forever". It's just such an over-reaction that I can't get past it. But having her want to redeem herself, even though it's so clearly telegraphed that there's going to be a lot of backsliding involved, does it for me because REDEMPTIONS, YES PLEASE. I don't care what a character's done, I love redemption stories.

I have to wonder what would happen if Gold went over the line. Because he didn't have a second life, he's always been himself (which is why I tend to call him "Gold", because "Mr. Gold" wasn't a second identity with its own fake memories, it's been more like an alias, and also it's a lot shorter), so would he necessarily forget? I don't know whether this is a useful question or if I'm meant to take it as given that he can't cross the line. I was slightly disappointed at the lack of Belle, because I NEED to find out how they're planning to play her desire to fix him. Is she actually going to heal him with True Love's Kiss (although shouldn't she have taken his magic away when they kissed before, as almost happened in FTL?) or are they going to acknowledge that her trying to fix him is a bad idea? On the one hand the writers generally do a good job; on the other, there is Disney behind all this.

Speaking of crossing the line, it must suck to be Sneezy's alter ego, now he's trapped in this weird town where people talk seriously about fairy dust.

I loved Charming acknowledging that David was terrible, because yeah. But I'm glad to see he's taking care of Henry now, because as much as Regina wants to be better, Henry could really do with a more stable home life with someone who hasn't spent ten years holding him prisoner and letting him think he's crazy. Also, these two are so adorable together, I really need to see more of them.

Wanted more Snow and Emma! The trouble with this show is that I Want more of everybody, and I'm always going to be slightly disappointed because someone's always going to get more of the screentime.

It struck me last night that now is such a good time for female characters. There are so many shows on now which either have a female lead, half or more female characters, and/or great female characters who are full parts of the story.
