chocolatepotI just spent about two hours working on a post on court dress to replace my old one (which I hate but which continually gets hits) when I realized that I didn't have enough images of ordinary people's - for a given value of ordinary - court clothing, mostly just queens and lady peers in their lady peer robes. Which are probably even more fossilized than regular court dress and so aren't good examples. :( I really need to replace that page, it's so bad and people keep seeing it.
Sticking this here, as I have nowhere else for it:
Lucy: Sweetheart! Oh lud, sweetheart! The best names I have had these three months from her have been slut or whore - What gown and ruffles will your ladyship wear to day?
Nell: What does she mean? Ladyship, gown, and ruffles!
It's a pretty creeptastic wife swap "comedy", but I think it's interesting that picking out her ruffles is on the same level as picking out her gown.
I know I had something else I was going to say and I just can't think of it now. Ummm. Fabric should come tomorrow. My spencer looked decent at the tea party. I'm hungry.
