Feb. 28th, 2013 08:07 pmSorry for the Aja. I was doing a test amadis ruffle with proper stroked gathers, which made me all yaaaay because it creates about an eighth as much bulk in the band, even if it takes twice as long (plus the gathers just look better), but then I was thinking about a text from
wereleopard and was like, I remember reading that whipping to a tape was the thing, so I searched The Art of the Lingere and yeah, that's what Garsault describes. So it's good that I've realized (thanks to Julie) that I can do it an easier, faster way, but I'm annoyed that I wasn't doing this from the start. These stroked gathers really are quite nice, though. [ETA: the stroked gathers are actually faster, I think. And they're easier to manipulate to the right circumference.]
If it's not too much trouble, could a few people tell me the circumference of their above elbow, below elbow, and wrist length 18th century sleeves? I've been doing all these ruffles to my own sizes and I'm planning to put up a custom option for outliers, but it'd be nice to know what the mean or mode of sizes are so I can offer pre-made options. Oh, also, do most wrist-length sleeves tend to be buttoned?
---
Today was similar to yesterday. Sewed, watched tv. I did go out to Hannaford to get food and exchange the stew beef I opened and found was bad yesterday - you know what? I opened the replacement to make stew and IT WAS ALSO GREENISH. I just don't even know.
Interview tomorrow! Not anticipating it too much, my experience with temp agencies is that they're happy to interview as many people as possible (as it's their job, it's not like they have to take time out to do it) but may never ever call you or even respond to your own calls. So I'm mainly using it as an excuse to go to Joann's for silk to make display sleeves.
I've got a couple of internships to apply for, and a child care job. It's hard for me to muster the energy to retailor my resumé and cover letters, but I know I have to do it.
