Think I might get around to covering my bonnet this week. Technically the shape is only correct for later 1810s-earlier 1840s, but I'd like to wear it to the party in Kinderhook with my thesis dress and awful spencer. Also, when I spend days on Etsy products, that counts as unpaid self-employment which means I can't/shouldn't count it when I put in an unemployment claim for that week.

The annoying thing is that I was being obsessive and pinning all these fashion plates from the NYPL digital gallery (CCDL's website went down on me) while looking for examples of collars and chemisettes - and now I'm all into the 1810s (not normal for me) and going, "oh, I could totally make that." I don't have time/money! I have been thinking, though, that the period method of paying the seamstress to cut out the pieces and then sewing them oneself might be something I should look into.

Last night I was reading a blog post about misconceptions about bra cup sizes and ran my measurements through two different calculators - both said I was a 38C instead of a 36D, and today when I went to Saratoga I tried on some new bras. MAGIC. Unfortunately, I'm betting this is a harder size to find in stores ... but I tend to always buy through La Senza online anyway.

My right foot is having some kind of issue. The lower joint in my pinky toe feels all tender - there's a thing called a "tailor's bunion" that's like a normal one except on the lateral side of the foot, I don't think I actually have a full on bunion, but I have been sitting cross-legged on the hardwood floor a lot lately to sew, so I'm betting it's somehow related to that.

Just let a Godey's go on eBay, so of course I look up six other periodicals to take its place. The trouble is, individually they all seem very reasonable, it's just when you point out that all of them put together add up to $$$ and I'm unemployed that I go, "oh yeah, what the hell am I doing."
