An adventure

chocolatepotVery nice outing today at the Troy Victorian Stroll. It was pretty cold, but with long johns and a second pair of socks under my stockings, two petticoats, gloves, a bonnet, and my heavy Banana Republic cloak I was fairly comfortable until close to the end. Actually, my Fugawee shoes are usually uncomfortable about half and hour into wearing them, so from now on I'm probably always going to double layer for them.
I really loved how I looked every time I caught my reflection in a window (and lbr, I spend a lot of time doing that), but unfortunately looking like an extra from Cranford doesn't get you the little girls going, "Mommy, look!" which is really what I do it for. Still, I enjoyed making this dress - although it's at least two inches too large in the bodice, as everything I make is - and am actually able to do the hair. I feel like this could be My Period. At some point, I'm going to fix this bodice (probably just move the hooks and redo the thread eyes rather than totally take it all apart, honestly) and then I'm going to make a second one that's a little later, with fitted sleeves. And then I'll use that experience to make something similar in silk. That should happen around 2016.
There was someone talking about Moffat, but I did not tell her that I find what went down with Rose and Donna so much more sexist than anything in Moffat's run or episodes because I don't get involved with Tumblr stuff IRL.
MY FEET HURT. They didn't hurt while I was walking which was good, but oh my arches. If this is my era, though, I might invest at some point in a pair of Hartfields, which come the closest to accurate for that period. I just wish she had similar ones with a squared toe. Still, no heel + ankle support means my feet wouldn't feel like this!
