chocolatepotSo I heard back from NM, they were asking about my age to know whether I should be in a single dorm or an apartment based on age restrictions. But around the same time I heard back from her, I got an email from the Chapman - they've got another grant of the same amount as the past two to have someone put the collections online, take more (better, probably) pictures and write more (better, probably) descriptions. Even if I got an apartment in Glens Falls instead of living with Mom, I'd still make more money and not have to get all those plane tickets! So I will be remaining in New Englandish for the forseeable future. :D

I follow medievalpoc on Tumblr, and it's a great blog. Being a blog that says "there were PoC in Europe in the past, and sometimes people you think of as white were/were perceived as not white at the time" they of course get hecklers, whether anon dicks or people imagining that their own criticism is more academic than it is. A pretty bad example of the latter has been going on lately, culminating in this. And they do seem like a part of that awful movement that needs to criticize Tumblr SJ ~to its face~ and goes too far in the other direction while doing so, but ... such a perfect example of "ugh, your methods", plus that whole Tumblr thing where people pretend reblogging a post and commenting on it is nothing like commenting on a blog. That really, really irritates me.

Date: 2013-12-11 01:56 pm (UTC)I have conflicted feelings about tumblr SJ. I never want to be in a position where I'm saying "oh, stop going ON about oppression, JEEZ" but the way some of it is used is counterproductive and incorrect.
