I was trying to answer questionnaires and such online (not feeling great this afternoon ... why am I so frequently unwell on vacation when I don't eat much out of the ordinary?) about my style, but realized quickly that there's no point - my problem is 100% money/time-related, plus that I tend to settle for good enough and have very few in-person shopping opportunities. I know what I like, what makes me feel happy, and what projects the image I want to project: bright solid colors, especially shades of blue but also greens and reds, waist-defining cuts, deep or boat necklines, 3/4 length sleeves, flared/gored knee-length skirts, raised waistlines. Basically, classic/retro. It's a matter of doing, and not figuring out. Which is like a million times more annoying, unfortunately. And my stomach makes me too cranky to refine it. (So cranky.)
Although assembling a style Pinterest board has led me to the conclusion that I need more narrow belts to wear over outfits. And I think I should use the colors I love but feel I can't wear (mainly yellow and light pink) as accents and edging.
Back to my Word file listing patterns, their line drawings, and the fabric I should use for them!
Black Sails's costuming is basically what I expect from Starz, though low expectations and occasional good stays don't stop me from wishing someone would do a properly early 18th century pirates thing. But overall so far (ep. 2) I like it.
