Nov. 1st, 2014 04:09 pmI want to write about Death Becomes You but I've gone over it twice verbally already today and I'm just so sleepy. Suffice to say for now that it was great, I was so happy to meet people, and it sucked that I got dehydrated and then that the restaurant's music was SO LOUD so I kind of ended it on a quiet note and didn't talk as much as I wanted. I wasn't being standoffish!
jubilima may be my new best friend. And shoutouts to

So now I have to finish my checked Regency dress, so I can clean all of that up. Or at least just attach the skirt to the bodice. Then I'm going to start work on a new corset for the wedding. The black-and-yellow pattern from Corsets & Crinolines worked well for me before, but I feel like incorporating gussets would help the shaping. I don't know.
Writing-wise, I was thinking on the bus this morning that I should blog about the rise of Neoclassicism in architecture and decarts, the Aesthetic movement, and the Wiener Werkstatte. And then I was thinking about YWU, as they sent out an email about submissions the other day. I've thought about sending in a proposal before but I always get stuck because I don't have much of a collection of my own (or practical how-to skills, business acumen, or finished projects to speak of) - then I thought, a) what about my great-grandmother's wedding dress, which I have and also have a photo of her in? and b) would Brookside maybe let me write several articles based on dresses in their collection? (More importantly, would they let me keep all the money? Probably, Kathleen is very nice and I think she'd like to pay me.) I'll have to go through the archives and take notes on what sort of object-discussions the site already has, but I could write a good handful of proposals in one go after taking a few sample photos on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Good idea, y/n?
Thanks to
erinpuff, I've realized what my problem is. I have Impostor Syndrome! I don't know what to do about it, but maybe recognizing that that's what the deal is will stop me from feeling compelled to apologize for trying to join in with proper sewists.
ETA: Okay, we must now part ways. Long suspected, recently proven.
