So there's a local English country dance group that every so often does a Regency ball, and now I have all this Regency stuff that needs to be made! Well, not "all this", just a corset and a dress. Both of which I have all the materials for, which is good.

Oh, hey! There's the corset I started ages ago, hidden in a box. No straps on it yet and the cups aren't quite right, but I think it'll fit close enough that the gown will still fit when I make The Perfect Long CorsetTM. The thing about gussets that really confuses me, though, is that it seems most logical for them to be pretty short ... but every extant corset I've seen bar the one in Corsets & Crinolines seems to have fairly long gussets. Does long and narrow do it better than short and wide? Are there just very few corsets surviving from 1800 to 1820, they're all from after that?

Ooooh, they do work! This is so exciting! I have even mastered the behind-the-back lace!
