WHAT a weekend. So, on Friday Sue and I left the museum at 3 to go over to the school and start setting up for the antique/artisan show. We moved about sixty plastic 8' tables, two at a time, and then I brought some dealers' things in on a dolly. Mostly I let them set up alone - their stuff is all different, you know, and they know where they want to put the jelly mold, the antique chair, etc. - but the woman from Specialtea Teas just had bags of tea, for the most part, and a cube/grid shelf thing to set up, so I spent over an hour helping her and talking. She gave me two 1.5 oz bags, which was awfully nice. I was hurting in the knees and shoulders by the time I left at 9, and I took a hot shower and went to bed.

I felt pretty good when I woke up the next morning and came in at 6, but after bringing more dealers' boxes in (I'd say half came the night before, half that morning) I was already starting to hurt again. I'd gotten enough volunteers signed up for the schedule that I didn't really have any duties - I just walked around to see if I could get them anything, or watch their booths while they took a break, and chat to make them feel welcome, etc. Which, I am really good at being charming but that takes just as much out of me as moving the tables.

There were no crises with somebody not turning up or anything like that. The closest thing was in the morning, I hear retching and spatters and holy mother of god a teenage girl had just thrown up in the hallway. I asked her if she was okay, she took a few steps closer and threw up again. She looked up at me with that horrified look kids have where their bodies are revolting against them and they want you to make it stop because you're a capable adult (I wore this look many a time), and then she did it again. I got her into the faculty bathroom to be alone and with a toilet (she threw up a little more on the way there) and then RAN to get Sue because I'm not the capable adult this kid thought I was. Fortunately her mother was out in a car in the lot, or so the girl claimed after she cleaned herself up, and fortunately there was a janitor nearby. (Two women came and walked through it while we were trying to block it off, which was ... does nobody else ever look at the floor?) She claimed that she "ate too much for breakfast" but apparently there's a virus going around.

I had to pay for my own lunch despite working way overtime with no extra pay, which was ridic and I probably could have challenged it but whaaaaatever, I also had three free donated donuts in the break room so it evens out.

Was there until about 7, driving things back and forth and so on. Painful. Too tired to make eye contact by the end.

Three takers for letters! I am still taking requests and will probably do some tomorrow.
