Ever since the antique show/fair, I've been working (at work) on getting a bunch of things together for a deaccession meeting. There are several boxes of antique books, a pile of photos I wasn't meant to accession in the first place, a box full of shoes that are so moldy, and a few petticoats I pulled out of the three boxes of Victorian underthings I catalogued. About half the books have a local name written inside, the other half have no provenance. The shoes are mostly 1890s-1900s, with two pairs of 1910s dress shoes and one pair of Renoirs; I could clean them all with 40% alcohol and wrap them individually in bags, but for real there's no space for them and this is as good a reason as any to get rid of them. If the committee decides to keep the good ones, that would be okay. There was a pair of wool half-boots and a pair of slippers that fortunately escaped the mold, probably by not being made of leather - the slippers are some kind of shiny treated fabric. The petticoats are just really bad, ripped and stained beyond any use.

I posted about it on Facebook, but in those boxes of underclothing I found a Regency chemise and an 18th century (or early 19th century - any hints on distinguishing?) shirt. It was pretty great. This board member who's at the museum a lot was walking past and I called her in to see it and then she got distressingly handsy and that wasn't great. But hopefully the shirt can be displayed in the house one of these days. I've come across a few dress forms, but they were in the collection and from the 1910s - not sure what else we have.

The mini-grant I was counting on for PastPerfect turned out to have run out of money, ugh. I realized the day of the deadline when I was about to submit. Terrible.

Today I co-ordinated stuff for the tea party on Saturday - I'm technically not working Saturday, but I'm going to come in from 11 to 12 to help out because I'm into tea, tea parties, little girls in dresses, etc. Because I made connections with the woman who runs a local tea company at the antique show, she's going to come and talk a little bit about tea to the kids, and bring some herbal blend that they might like. And I'm making the lucky little things clotted cream!
