Feb. 29th, 2016 08:41 pmHA. Cut out the chemise and pinned it. I cheated a little, I did the body as one piece of fabric with one side seam to lighten the work a little. I will prevail over March's challenge.
I keep meaning to share this and forgetting. For the linkshy, it's a promo shot of Jamie and Claire at the French court in Outlander S2, Claire in a highly inaccurate attempt at French court dress, with a quote from TD saying But France [in the 18th century] was one of the most well-documented periods of fashion in the world, so you better get it right. There is no wiggle room. What is this insanity. I for one cannot wait to see FrockFlicks mention that it's not quite 100% when it airs and see it argued that the producers required those weird X bands across the bodice and the longer sleeves.
I also keep meaning to apply for this job at the Mint Museum in their Craft, Design, and Fashion department, although I'm feeling kind of defeatist about it. There are so many fashion history grads out there, it seems impossible that I could get a job in any museum's costume/textiles department, especially now that I've moved like a fool even farther away from the thick of things. But I've been having a lot of angst lately, to wit:
Nobody loves me
I should work harder on OKC and Tinder etc., nothing falls into your lap
Maybe I missed my window
Like early-mid twenties is when people get together, and the next window is when people start getting divorced in their 40s
Statistically though there are as many single men as women
But if I do start a relationship, I can't pull up sticks and move
I can't get another job because I'm not a competitive enough candidate
Boo hoo hoo
I WANT BABBY
WANT BABBY
Can't afford babby
If I got married I could have babby
Nobody loves me
Etc.
