Nexus 5!

I keep having some buyer's remorse, as I always do with big purchases. Anything over about $50 feeling like a big purchase to me. But this phone is going to last me a while, and it really is a great phone for the price. The camera's decent, the processor's fast, the screen resolution's crisp, the screen itself is large without the phone being too large for my hand, the case is strong, and the glass is said to be unscratchable.

I was having buyer's remorse about the Delineators I bought recently but one came already and it's so great that I don't regret it at all. I'll be putting some pictures on Tumblr soon.

I wish I'd had the phone at Julie's party, I would have taken a lot of pictures. Well, I like to think I would have. I did have my camera and deliberately left it in my room so I wouldn't get caught up in documenting instead of having fun.

- I did take the plunge and buy the Nexus! I'll worry about selling my Amazon gift cards to someone and getting the birthday money I never got from Dad later. I deserve to have a decent phone. Especially as I'm going to move in with Mom in a couple of weeks.

- Tried to order the sim card from T-Mobile so it could get here around the same time, but I had a ton of problems and had to go to the help chat; couldn't type in the box on the help chat, had to phone; the downstairs land line's battery was empty so I used my phone and reception was so bad I had to apologize and hang up. I will go to the mall the night I get the phone to buy a sim card in person.

- I'm stupidly tense about it all coming together before I have to give my badge back in so I can get that discount. But TBH 100 minutes for $30 is probably a decent deal for me, even though unlimited for $35 would obviously be better. Why do I impose these restrictions on myself?

- Called the Dept. of Civil Service, left a voicemail about my faxed transcript. It's probably going to take them a few days, hopefully it will be all straightened out by then.

- I think the place Melissa took my car for an estimate way padded it out. I finally looked at it closely, and there's a LOT that isn't directly related to taking a dent out of the panel - glass, lights, etc. WTF? It looked like they added about ten hours of work onto it. I still may take it to small claims court (there's got to be a chance that a judge would rule that they need to pay at least 75%, it's not a straightforward "two people backing into each other" case), but I want to get another estimate when Dad takes it to deal with the check engine light FOR THE THIRD TIME THIS WINTER and see how much it is.

- This bodice is going to be finished in Lake George because I spent all evening screwing around with T-Mobile.

I think I'm going to get a Nexus 5, any thoughts? And switch to T-Mobile from Virgin. I'm told that if I sign up while I still have a MetLife email address I can get a discount. Anything is better than the phone I have now, but it seems like a decent investment that I will use for a long time.

So I did do some sewing today. I cut out a section on one side of the skirt and have sewn one seam and pinned the other. EXHAUSTING. I haven't heard from the temp agency so I guess I'm not going in tomorrow, so I will HOPEFULLY get the rest of this step done. Once I've got the first gore put in the second should be faster, right? (No.)

Yesterday I was looking at the VirginMobile website, because I've wanted a smartphone for ages and ages, and I figured I'd get a sense of how much they cost and budget for when I could get one. And it turned out that they have a $60 phone! ($80, but with $20 off.) Their smartphone plans all include unlimited texting and data, and for $35 you get 300 minutes of talk, which is more than enough for me. So I walked down to RadioShack and got me one. And now everything is awesome. I get a lot of anxiety at times over not being able to check email - if I'm meeting someone and I'm worried they've sent me a later message about where/when we're meeting, stuff like that. It sounds stupid, but this makes me happy, so eh.

Started reading this Rumbelle fic and um I sent the author a PM after the first chapter about some costuming/date issues that didn't make sense to me but apart from that? Much enjoyment. I mean, half the work is done in that any Rumbelle fic is a BatB story, which I tend to love on principle, and setting it in 1857 with decent writing also goes a long way.
