Dear Chocolatier
Jan. 1st, 2021 05:20 pm(Real update coming any time now. But first ...)
All in all, what I'm really looking for are some good times. Hurt/comfort is fine as long as there's comfort; angst is fine as long as it's cleared up by the end.
Harry Potter
Remus/Tonks - I have been a fan of this ship since OotP, when I thought it was fun to think about but would never be canon. So I'm, of course, not the biggest fan of how it turned out in the end ... I love the attraction of opposites, the prematurely old and weary with the hopeful and fresh. You can write something where they get the life post-canon that they should have had (including skipping how they were in DH, if you want), or just show a missing moment within the actual timeline.
Another option - the traumatized veteran of Waterloo and the debutante is a stock pairing in Regency romance. It would be very apropos to do this kind of AU with this ship! (Or a post-WWI AU, now that I think about it.)
Harry & Sirius - Likewise, one thing I really wanted from the series was to see Sirius and Harry just get to be together, happy, and relaxed! I would take either a missing moment from OotP where they get to forget for a day or so that Harry has to go back to school, or a fix-it fic where Sirius makes it out alive and Harry can allow himself to be dadded for a bit. (Or where Sirius gets to be a grand-godfather to James Sirius!)
Historical AUs also welcomed here, although none really adapt themselves so well to the situation.
Queen's Thief
I feel like a broken record here, but I'd love either a missing moment set during canon or something set post-canon when people have some time to relax. That being said, I am also a massive fan of people incorporating a historical viewpoint - how do historians or archaeologists or curators or ordinary people of the post-canon modern era talk about the events and characters we know intimately?
Irene/Gen - The things I love about this ship include the serious!Irene/joking!Gen dynamic, the times when they're both just sweet with each other, characters in the court not realizing how much they love each other until it's suddenly apparent, Irene being the powerful queen forcing Gen to stand up and be a king beside her.
Irene & Helen - These two are such interesting opposites, yet at the same time, both are very much defined by their roles as queen throughout the books. I'd love to see more of them spending time together, maybe with their kids after canon.
Northanger Abbey
Catherine/Henry - One of the Austen couples that doesn't have much romance/romantic tension on the page, so there's a lot to explore! I would love to see Henry actually courting Catherine, or settling into married life with her.
Eleanor & Henry - They've been through a lot together, huh? While it would be nice to see them safely married off and on the other side, something that explores the darkness of their shared past would be very interesting.
