"Peony to Lotus" made me realize how great this ship is! One of my favorite ship dynamics is two people who are kind of sad and kicked around by other people to some extent who get to develop/show more strength or self-esteem or love or whatever through protecting and helping each other. Is that weirdly specific? I don't know, but I'm currently working on a fic where that is the entire point.
I am OBSESSED with this pairing, and tbh I love them as each comforting each other (which is why I have both as hurt options). While JGY obviously did bad things in canon etc etc I do think there's a lot of goodness in him, and I'd love to see that come out in comforting JYL, while she has a iron spine that comes out when necessary that could be used to defend her boy.
Far from having any DNWs, you can definitely add trauma of many kinds for them. This is obviously an AU ship (or I guess I would say I DNW this to be canon-compliant as a secret affair, neither of them would ever) and if you want to add a li'l wartime violence to give them more to comfort, I won't say no!
I'm not sure any of the tropes really need explaining individually ... I think they kind of all work for both characters, though the middle three seem more JGY to me and the last is a JYL classic.

Pagan & Babylonne with either hurt

I'm also obsessed with these two ... It was definitely a good narrative choice for Jinks to have Pagan die before Isidore finds Babylonne, but mannnnnnnnnnn I would love to see them getting along, or not getting along, or getting along but he can't stop needling her and she can't stop snapping at him and he thinks it's hilarious because she's exactly like he was at that age.
In general, I'm a real sucker for long-lost-father-daughter stuff, the whole thing of someone isolated or outcast finally finding a person who loves them (which can go in either direction in general). Realizing how much they happen to be alike, or conversely how they happen to be different in some very significant way due to different experiences!
My main DNW would be any kind of a sexual relationship between them, which is already kinda there in the & of the relationship, but good to state it anyway! I also DNW character death (which I think you'd be unlikely to do, but again: best to state it).
