On a scale of one to ten, how pissed off would you be if a guy referred to a woman/female character with three kids as a baby machine, then defended it by saying "Whether a sausage machine turns out three sausages or a million ... it's still a sausage machine. Particularly if it does nothing else but make sausages"?

Jackass alert. Seriously, that's a jackass statement. A quick caveat; in some cultures the uterus is referred to as 'the factory', but I think that's only acceptible when a woman is referring to her own uterus. In parts of South America when a woman has had a tubal ligation to prevent more babies she will sometimes say 'the factory is closed'. Still, as he produces nothing but crap statements one might wonder if his only output is biohazardous material i.e. "Well, dude, you might be nothing but a shit factory. Keep talking and I'll decide."

She isn't badly written. She simply didn't get as much on-page time as other characters.

She's consistent, if you put her in context. She's younger than Harry and Ron and Hermoine. Her crush behavior is perfect for a kid of that age. Then for awhile she's 'off-page'.

If he wants a detailed characterization he's out of luck. If he needs to know what she eats for breakfast, how many times she chews her food before she swallows and how many times she has a BM to understand her he needs to develop the ability for context and content.
I wonder if all of his friends are imaginary.

Why bother reading it then? One of the central premises is freedom and another is a kind of equality. Wouldn't he be happier catching up on volume three-hundred and twelve of the "Left Behind" series, subtitled "We're Out of Toilet Paper"?

I meant 'why would he bother to read HP if he's conservative.' HP sets a lot of conservative types twitching. :D

There are people who are so dazzled by their own logic...him, case in point...that they can't see there's no logic there at all. Maybe he's got a lot in common with a whole lot of politicians.

What I don't get is why these reactionary types like Hermione in the first place. She's a strong, independent girl who doesn't take crap, her most important asset is her mind and she knows it, and she's also not ashamed or afraid of her sexuality.

About 15.

But... Madderbrad? I can't get angry at anything he says, because it's too much energy. I know everything he says is going to be misogynistic and about 20 other kinds of awful at the same time. Because of course it is. The man's got the brains (and probably other things) of a particularly small pea.
