What's the term for the clothes peers wear/wore for special occasions? Red velvet, ermine and that? I'm filing it under "court dress" in Pinterest but it's not really, is it.

Wikipedia says court dress was used to describe what was worn to royal courts, ie the ermine and that. History.org calls it formal wear or court dress. I wouldn't question it, though the research allowed me to again grin at Christopher Guest and Jamie Lee Curtis in their court dress. He's Baron Haden-Guest, you know. :D
