Mar. 12th, 2013 09:44 pmBonnet is almost finished! I'm pretty proud of this project. There are a lot of things that I get nearly done with and one step screws it all up, or makes me feel like it's all screwed up, anyway, and then I finish it so it's usable but I have no enthusiasm. (The red spencer was one of these.) This bonnet is kind of cockeyed and the crown could be a lot stiffer - next time I'll order buckram instead of crinoline - but unless I do something really stupid with the ties, this is going to work and be pretty!
The temp agency called me today, just to see how things were going. Probably to see if I'd found another job. They said they thought they'd have something for me soon but that was probably just a pleasantry.
Really liking my two new Godey's and new Peterson's. Peterson's Magazine might even be a better resource, I think. It gives actual patterns more often, and the embroidery diagrams are more plentiful. Food for thought if you feel like spending money on eBay. It's making me want to make all kinds of things, but I have to stop myself. Only work on in-theme white cotton stuff until I actually start selling anything; if I can be mildly, slightly successful, then I can branch out. (Although in the meanwhile, maybe I could turn the patterns given in Peterson's into graded patterns, and/or make an ebook of the crochet/knitting/crafty patterns.)
