GO WORK ON DINNER
Mar. 22nd, 2013 04:56 pmFinished my Regency frill/collar/chemisette (I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to list it yet - it's like a chemisette but it doesn't tie, the base is like a circle, and it fastens in the back), apart from the button and buttonhole. The ruffle was a beast, 45" long ungathered, and I am so glad it's finished. I wish I worked more solidly, though, so I could have a better idea how long it took me.
I'm astounded by this ruffle and need to figure out how to do that. *___*
So last night I made a super mockup of my Regency corset out of a sheet, like really basic just to get the general size and shape right. What I want to do is make a nicer mockup out of possibly cheap big jeans from Goodwill (or someplace) or some cheap twill from Joann's, machine-sew it, use metal grommets, and use that for as long as I feel like. Then when I feel up to it I'll get exactly the right material and hand-sew them properly, and as they'll be the right size I won't have to worry about stuff I've made with the earlier ones not fitting. And then I think I'll try to use my evening dress pattern to make a cotton day dress for Tulip Fest to work that out as a functional mockup as well.
