When I'm doing a really interesting fashion plate (Blogger has decided to work for me again) - the odd reference to a gown "à l'Anglo-Americaine", a gown that is "truly" à l'Anglaise, the term "en fourreau" - but the stupid stupid reprinted Galerie des Modes has a completely irrelevant caption about watches or flowers on hats. Why. In a few cases I'm glad of the extra context, but for the most part it's just like, thank you so much for hiding the real information in your attempt to present a view of society and not just dress.

ETA: OMG MIND BLOWN THIS EPISODE OF SVU HAS THEM GOING UPSTATE TO CAMBRIDGE, THAT'S LIKE TEN MINUTES FROM HERE, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, PEOPLE ACT LIKE THIS PART OF THE STATE DOESN'T EXIST
