There's something kind of impressive about the fact that no matter what I'm writing, I will always unconsciously pace chapters so that the action I intend to write in them takes up 4.5-5 pages. Over and over. There must be something wrong with me.

I think that's pretty normal. I hope it's pretty normal anyway, cuz otherwise there's something wrong with me too :P.

How?! How does it happen, and keep happening? I don't even pay attention to how many pages I've gone, I hit a spot where it seems to make more sense to start a new chapter for the scene transition, and then I realize I'm on a page that's a multiple of five. Every single time!

From writing 5 page papers in college? Maybe Jane Austen did it? Or JKR? Maybe 5 pages is how much most scenes naturally need?
