I want to stop thinking about vaccine-denialists so of course FB is sending me thing after thing to do with vaccines. I'm glad to know that Kay trusts in vaccines but pleeeeeeeeeease the only way to get me to stop arguing with someone online is to cut it off entirely.

Forgot to say in my megapost last night - YWU did get back to me, and I'll be writing them as many articles as possible! So that is very exciting. It's a good thing I did my taxes with online fillable forms yesterday so that I'm prepared for them to be even more confusing wrt non-W-2 income next year, I guess.

Man, every single one of these hairstyle plates has exposed nipples.

ETA: Making boxboard pattern pieces for my caps, since newspaper patterns have a tendency to shift, wrinkle, yellow, and generally look like garbage so then everyone's like "can you clean all of this up? Your stuff is everywhere." My plans are:
- The Elizabeth: the one that's up on Etsy, two pleated half-ruffles
- The Ruth: 18th century mob cap with ruffled lappets
- The Abigail: Regency cap with ruffled lappets
- The Sarah: Elizabeth cap with single gathered ruffle

These are all basically variations on the same theme; the Elizabeth, Ruth, and Sarah all use the same caul with different ruffles/bands (depending), and the Abigail is similar to the Ruth with a smaller caul and larger band (inspo). Once I have these down, I'd like to branch out into Regency/early Victorian caps without drawstrings - wider brims, sewn together at the back, with a nice puffy crown. But that's for later. Hannah, Mary, and Phoebe will probably be used.

The vaccine stuff is really getting to me too. I hardly ever run into anti-vaxxers, so it's like this echo chamber of everyone being furious (for really good reasons), and I get plenty furious too, but -- what are we accomplishing? I can't do a thing about California's stupid vaccination laws. Plus the few times I have run into denialists, I've never seen the slightest hint that they could be open to the truth. I've seen sexists and racists and climate change deniers eat their words, but never an anti-vaxxer. They only double-down. It's exhausting.

I normally never see anti-vaxxers, but now that I have ... I used to be laid-back "yeah that's dumb, but how prevalent is it really?" about it, but now I understand the fury. People taking the shittiest sources at face value makes me furious! Your table with no citation on it is not proving anything!

It is exhausting. I want to analyze it in terms of social whatsit but I just can't.

I keep seeing people who outright say they don't care about anyone else's children or immunocompromised people or herd immunity, it doesn't matter to them what happens to anyone outside their immediate family. How horrible does someone have to be to not just think that, but to think it's an acceptable and even laudable thing to say?

Man, I can't even imagine. It seems like some of them are sort of forcing themselves not to really think about that aspect - at least, the way this guy keeps dodging the question of ethics makes me think so - but that's just reprehensible.
