Feb. 16th, 2015 04:02 pmChanged my mind on wishing girl-reenacting was more like boy-reenacting! I liked a couple of comments or posts or something in a military-focused community so I'm seeing their posts more of the time, and I think I'd rather worry that everyone thinks I'm a bitch for disagreeing than have every conversation a competition.
As much as I want to live alone, I probably shouldn't. Mom left this afternoon for Delhi and already I have done nothing after work but watch Netflix (Spartacus, trying it out, not sure, it's very bloody) and compute for hours. Come on.
(Seriously, I get that it's about gladiators so there's got to be blood, but the loving slo-mo blood spatter is gratuitous. But you know, one thing I will give it is that the female slaves never look happy, and it seems like SO much fantasy/historical stuff that wants to have sex and boobs everywhere goes, "Oh, they like having sex with random guys/stripping/being naked furniture basically!" and the actresses are directed to look cheerful and enthusiastic. I hate that.)
(Hmm, you know, I think I've figured out exactly why I dislike plots where the hero is separated permanently from his original love interest. Apart from the way the tragedy is always his loss and not her death, I prefer more RL progressions than how a man is beaten on the anvil of life etc. to become a hero. I'd rather see them both have to survive in whatever circumstances, the way most people would, rather than seeing how a man is beaten on the anvil of life etc.)
What's the deal with this Wheel of Time business? Pretty crazy.

Date: 2015-02-17 06:37 am (UTC)Wouldn't it be nice if people on the internet could just pretend to be rational sometimes, so neither of these things would happen so much?
Sounds like you need to take up video gaming ;)
There's a Wheel of Time business? I haven't heard anything. Damn, I miss fandom_wank.

Date: 2015-02-17 12:34 pm (UTC)At least while watching Netflix I tend to write! I would get nothing done if I were a gamer.
Apparently a channel (forget which one) made a WoT pilot and aired it around 1am. Which seems very weird to me because wouldn't you want to make a big deal about that? And now they're suing his widow for some reason.

Heh, that's exactly my mom's excuse. She plans to start playing video games when she retires.
I'm looking up the WoT stuff now. Unfortunately almost the only sources I can find are message board conversations devolving into wank after two posts. But yeah, that company... wow. Super sleazy.
