Petticoats: almost done!
Feb. 27th, 2016 06:21 pmNot like it's a big step forward from yesterday, but I whipped down the back of the waistband on the second, and put it over the hoop to figure out where to hem it to. Even with a midday break to go see Hail Caesar (I've heard it's not very good, but I love camp and movies-about-movies so much that I don't care), I should finish tomorrow. Monday at the latest.
Then maybe I will get around to putting the zipper into that dress this weekend! It would be pretty fantastic, since I've had to take the ugly wool dress out of the rotation.
My skin is all dried out, suddenly, I don't really understand it. I was fine before I went to Vieques, then yesterday I woke up with my hands and face all flaky.
I decided it would be super cool to translate Leroy's account books but then after doing a page I started wondering "what is the purpose of this?" If I could come up with some research question, that would be great. So far I've just found that July and December were bumper months for clothes in Josephine's wardrobe - there's a lot of "For trimmings in the month of [X]" notation. Though looking ahead, that's just Josephine - other people were spending less enough to justify listing their purchases. Here's an interesting tidbit for you - he sometimes remade parts of an already-worn gown.
Oh hey, I never said, but the trainer whose dog won the agility grand championship at Westminster is from Greenwich and I know her. My dad got married on their dog farm.
