Aug. 9th, 2017 09:30 pmI just found out about The Open Palace Programmes, and I think I'm going to apply just for the heck of it, but I won't get in. I know I won't, but it makes me tear up just reading the itineraries because they're so perfect. I wish the mentor program would get back in touch with me: I. Just. Want. To. Know. What. To. Do.
Up on iTunes! 36 downloads so far from LibSyn, yay.
I proposed an Arthur Tudor alt-history show in a special AskHistorians thread because I'm obsessed with Arthur Tudor and now I'd like to see it even more.

I've been drafting an article about principles and practices of Better Blogging For Rural Businesses [yes, this is agricultural journalism!] and wondered if you'd ever thought of writing/starting the museum's blog, as a showcase of your role of Collections manager? Museum blogs as a whole display what the writers know AND get people through the door ... which are the two baseline things hiring committees really want! There's a good example at the Museum of London blog, if you don't already follow that. Theirs is written by several people, but as a one-woman-blog you'd be demonstrating that YOU are organised, intelligent, visitor-attracting, communicative, digital-savvy, etc etc... Worth a thought?
[Sorry. Blame the effects of spending hours considering websites blogging about jam and cakes and cute lambs...]

Date: 2017-08-16 07:38 pm (UTC)I did actually start preparing to do a blog for the museum when I first started here, but I just have way too many duties - even writing/formatting the newsletter (which is 50% schedules/set content) four times a year becomes this huge obstacle to everything else. I feel like it's probably(?) better for me to pour passion into personal projects than to either add something else to my workday or take it home with me ... but this is the kind of thing I want to ask a mentor!
(I'm betting they don't have enough people signed up to be mentors, tbh, and I'm never going to hear back from them.)
