Redrew the bodice/belt/butt-bow page of the pattern today - it looks MUCH better, and has some more information on it (like full-scale drawings of the trim). The added info didn't really make much of a dent in the description, which is a page long, but some of the more awkward sentences were able to be excised.

I knew I'd won Best Of 2016 in something from BadHistory via PM, but I finally went and checked it out (I can't read it as often because modding at AskHistorians makes me unable to deal with not being able to delete stupid comments elsewhere) and I won a mod's choice, basically, for people that didn't get nominated but the mods felt deserved recognition.

/u/chocolatepot for her posts on clothing throughout history. Always well researched, written, and sourced, it's been a pleasure to get an insight into this, often overlooked, part of history. We found out that Jane Austen travelled through time to pose for a painting, wet-chemise contests in Regency times (I might not remember that one correctly), corsets that allow people to breathe, Mediaeval POC not understanding clothing, etc. If you ever find King Edward's Time Machine, this is the woman to contact to make sure you don't stand out like a sore thumb.

Sherlock, so far. I like it )

All of this moving around and storing things different places has made it very hard to find things. I really thought I knew where my knitting things were ... but apparently not. Guess I will try using paintbrushes? Or just buy more needles.

I really want to like Marco Polo but it is so not happening. First off, it is literally the most gratuitous show I've ever seen, way more than Game of Thrones even. Laughable sexposition >>>>> pretending there's any kind of ~serious reason you need to have actual set dressing of naked women. Then, it's quite boring? I'm trying to find episode guides as it's confusingly political and people's names don't get said frequently enough. In something this boring I need a particular type of character to latch onto and she doesn't really exist so far; she's had like three lines. Man, I dunno, I'm just over this kind of tv. I'll give it some more time and see if the Blue Princess gets more screentime but there are just so many boobs.

But I am listening right now to Good Omens and it's so much better. Mark Heap was a really inspired choice for Aziraphale, I would have cast Cary Elwes - he's been my fancasting for a really long time - but Mark Heap's prissiness is perfect.

Headcanon/desired preference for the future: Suri Cruise and John Jolie-Pitt become best friends. Think about it.

The trouble with craving approval and/or attention the way I do is that such small things become so important. I was mildly and silently freaking out because my flair application in r/AskHistorians went unresponded-to when people who'd commented later got answers; then when I was told I needed another cited post and a more specific flair title it was like someone said my soul was not good enough. I wrote a second time to YWU and still no answer.

Applied to a registrar position in NJ today; was still thinking about the Newport internship but nah, Newport gets way too many applications.
