I'm skimming through my 1864 book and I've just hit this story called "Dr. John Hale and Margaret Thorne", by Susan Haskell. The story itself doesn't seem to be plagiarizing North & South, but still ... come on.

I have an 1862 bound Godey's, and the letter column was my favorite part! So mysterious.

I wish they would have printed the letters instead of just the very vague answers!
